On Tuesday, March 24 1953, the Christies were no longer living at 10 Rillington Place. That afternoon, Beresford Brown, the tenant who now occupied the top-floor flat, was making some repairs to the Christies’ old kitchen after the property owner had given him permission to make use of it. As he installed some brackets for a wireless radio, he tapped a portion of the rooms rear wall and discovered that it was hollow. 

Beresford peeled back a small portion of wallpaper revealing a small, hidden alcove tucked away alongside the kitchen. He shone a torch inside and was alarmed at what he saw…
