Case 190

The Butcher Baker

*** Content Warning: serial killer, sexual assault, extreme violence ***

[Part 1 of 2]

During the 1970s and ’80s, a predator was stalking the streets of Anchorage, Alaska. By day, he was a respectable family man who ran his own business. But at night, he would prowl Anchorage’s infamous Tenderloin District, looking for vulnerable or destitute women.

Luring his victims in with promises of gifts or money, he took them into the expansive and remote wilderness beyond the city lights, where he would restrain and rape them. At first, he released his victims. But when the bodies of several missing women were uncovered in remote locations, it became abundantly clear that his crimes had escalated.
