Case 89

Ella Tundra

On October 3 2014, Paige Rolland was working her regular shift at Asda supermarket, in Glenrothes, Scotland. She was in the breakfast aisle, tasked with arranging cereal boxes neatly and replacing stock. As she stood up from fixing the boxes on the bottom shelf, something hard hit the back of her head. Paige collapsed. The tinkering sound of shattering glass echoed down the aisle.

A customer witnessed what happened. They explained that a man had approached Paige from behind, brandishing a wine bottle. He hit her, then calmly walked away.

CCTV footage showed the assailant to be a dark-haired male in his twenties, of average height and slim build.

Local news picked up the story and circulated a description of the wanted man, calling the attack on the teenager a mystery; perhaps a random strike by a mad man.

But it was not random. The attacker had travelled nearly 500 miles from London specifically to smash in the skull of Paige Rolland…
